3D Printing Technology

3D printing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. It involves computer controlled sequential layering of materials.
3D printing enables to produce complex shapes using lesser material than traditional methods.

How Does 3D Printing Work?

It starts with the creation of a 3D model in the computer. A 3D model is either created with 3D modeling software or based on data generated with a 3D scanner.

3D modeling softwares are often helpful for industry. There are software applications in the market that cater to aerospace or transportation, furniture design or fabrics and fashion among many others.

One will have to prepare a 3D model before it is ready to be 3D printed. This is called as slicing. Slicing divides a 3D model into hundreds or thousands of horizontal layers with the help of slicing software.

When the 3D model is sliced, it is ready to feed it to 3D printer. This can be done via USB, SD or Wi-Fi. It depends on what brand and type 3D Printer one has. As a file is uploaded in a 3D printer, the object is ready to be 3D printed layer by layer.
